ABOUT

Daniel is a finalist for the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards (2021)

and a quarter-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship (2022).

He has written, directed and edited short films, music videos, and commercials, along with his award-winning feature film Cat Skin (2017).

Cat Skin played at PÖFF: The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, received multiple award nominations, and won the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature Film at the Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival.

Daniel co-directed and edited the short documentary See Again (2019), which premiered at the Manchester Film Festival, and his scripted shorts have screened at film markets at Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival and Palm Springs Film Festival.

The British Film Institute’s career development programme Screen Skills provided Daniel with a mentorship in directing, and he took part in the BFI Network Writer’s Lab. He was shortlisted for Channel 4’s Talent Scheme (4Stories), and long-listed for the Creative UK and Netflix partnership Breakout.

Starting as a runner for the BBC at eighteen, Daniel worked his way up to cutting broadcast promos for Warner Bros. TV at OnDemand! (now Vubiquity), managed the post-production department for the agency Instinctif, and coloured the BFI-funded feature documentary Maisie (2021). His writing and directing benefit from his experience in post-production.

A graduate of the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham with a BA Honours Degree in Film Production, Daniel specialized in directing. He shot his graduation film Daddy and the Deer (2009) on 16mm film and the film topped Shooting People’s Film of the Month chart.

Drawn to atmospheric character-driven stories, Daniel works across multiple genres and themes.
